Book Review : His Drunken Wife by Sundari Venkatraman

‘through thick and thin true love endures (always)’

When I read the title and got to know who the character was, I started wondering can you actually write a romance on a woman who has showed the grayest of her nature, the vamp side of her to the hilt in Sundari Venkatraman's earlier books - A woman with drinking problem, smoking issue and an obsessed need to marry wealth.
But trust me if anyone could have pulled that character successfully in a romance it is  Sundari Venkatraman.
More than the reader in me, the writer in me wanted to see how she did that. But soon the reader in me kicked in and it was no longer the writer trying to learn from a bestselling author but a reader with the stars and hearts shining in her eyes reading it.
It is not the usual fairy tale kind but more an inspirational one.
The patience and strength of Abhimanyu is just rock solid. This romance is not just about a great looking hunk, beautiful lady and love but beyond that, ‘an inspirational romance’ would be the right word.
Every time Shikha shouts at Abhi wanting to break free from him, I don’t know was it just me or really one sees a girl begging him to stick with her. Everytime she shows her worst somewhere deep within her doesn’t she wants to be rescued.

This is all about- ‘through thick and thin true love endures (always)’.

Miss Black and Miss White are still reveling in the inspirational love. Hence not a peep from them.

Blurb:
The badass Shikha is startled when the nerdy Abhimanyu proposes marriage. She loves... herself, and Abhimanyu doesn't figure on her list anywhere. For Abhimanyu, however, it was love at first sight when Shikha walked into RS Software, where the two of them work.

When Abhimanyu shows her that he just might be rich enough for her, a pleasantly surprised Shikha accepts his marriage proposal and moves into his swanky apartment.

But it looks like the love is all from only Abhi’s side as Shikha continues to drink herself crazy. Yeah, even at their wedding party.

And then Abhi sets out on a honeymoon to Thailand with his drunken wife...

*MARRIAGES MADE IN INDIA is a five-novella series that revolves around the characters you have met in The Runaway Bridegroom.

All I would say is grab the book from Goodreads, Amazon USA, Amazon India, Amazon Canada, Amazon UK and Amazon Australia

  1. I am so happy that you enjoyed reading my book and understood so well about Shikha. She was one heroine who wanted her story told, compulsively. She just sprang forth from me. And yes, she so needed Abhimanyu in her life :D Thank you Reshma

    1. Shikha's journey truly an inspirational one. Abhimanyu staying with her through thick and thin. It was so realistic and I know there would be luckily handful of person like him and and even less to support his decision.
